Su Mon Wong - 2002 winner
Ensure that your application demonstrates a deep commitment to teaching and
learning through an espoused Teaching & Learning philosophy or approach.
Key aspects in my experience include:
-
demonstrating theory and practice in unison - synergistically
-
the recognition that learning and development is a life-long process that
requires your full attention
-
the need to take students from basic understanding to a thorough understanding;
for example from dependency in 1st year to independence by 3rd year and also in
post graduate
-
changing the thinking and thus impact on the lives of your students takes a
special approach to teaching delivery that goes beyond the norm to involve
thoughtful, imaginative and innovative techniques
-
even during difficult times - ensuring you maintain consistency, uniformity and
equity and of course "detail"
-
earning the title of "expert" by having this award bestowed upon you, not by
determining this as a right of ownership yourself.
