2007 Winner - Pearson Education Teacher Educator of the Year Award

Dr Jayne Keogh

Dr Jayne Keogh with her award, presented by Alison Green of Pearson Education

Pearson Education Australia is pleased to announce that the winner of its Teacher Educator of the Year Award for 2007 is Dr Jayne Keogh of The University of Queensland. The award went to Jayne for her contributions to the Middle Years Schooling teacher education programs and the outstanding work she has done for students in guiding them into their role as professionals. Jayne was presented with a prize of $3,000 and a plaque at the ATEA Conference Dinner in Wollongong on Friday 6 July.

The judges, selected by the ATEA Executive, had a difficult task in selecting a winning candidate from the high quality nominations received. However, they felt that Jayne’s contributions to teacher education were outstanding and she was very deserving of this year’s award.

This award, aimed at encouraging and recognising innovative teaching practices in Teacher Education, recognises outstanding contributions to teaching in terms of:

  • Interest and enthusiasm for teaching
  • Promoting student learning
  • Imaginative presentation of course materials
  • Command of the subject matter
  • Participation in professional activities and research relating to teaching

Pearson Education would like to congratulate Jayne and thank all those academics who participated in the 2007 award. We would also like to thank the judges for the time and effort given in selecting the winner.

The Pearson Education ATEA Teacher Educator of the Year Award will be offered again in 2008. For more information please contact:
