2007 WINNER - Pearson Education RACI Chemistry Educator of the Year Award

Pearson Education Australia is pleased to announce that the winner of the inaugural Chemistry Educator of the Year Award for 2007 is Dr. Magdalena Wajrak of Edith Cowan University. Magdalena was awarded her prize of $3,000 and a trophy at the RACI Awards Dinner in Sydney on Friday November 23rd 2007.

The judges, selected by the RACI Executive, has a difficult task in selected a winning candidate from the high quality nominations received. However, they felt that Magdalena’s contributions to chemistry education were outstanding and she was very deserving of this year’s award.

This award, aimed to encourage and recognise innovative teaching practices in Chemistry Education, recognises outstanding contributions to teaching in terms of:

  • Interest and enthusiasm for teaching
  • Promoting student learning
  • Imaginative presentation of course material
  • Command of the subject matter
  • Participation in professional activities and research relating to teaching

Pearson Education would like to congratulate Magdalena and thank all those academics who participated in the 2007 award.

We would also like to thank the judges for the time and effort given in selecting the winner.
