Obtaining Pearson Licensed Content
How can I get a quotation for Pearson Licensed Content?
Simply contact the VET Hotline on 1800 838 123 or email vet@pearsoned.com.au
You will need to tell us:
- What type of Licence you require
- The number of students that will access the licensed content during the life of the contract
We will then prepare your obligation free written quotation.
What happens when I decide to accept the quote?
Once you tell us that you wish to proceed, we will send you two copies of our standard contract.
You will need to sign both and return one copy to us, along with an official purchase order. You should retain the other for your records.
We will then prepare and send to you a CD Rom with either PDF or Microsoft® Word format files, depending upon the type of Licence you have chosen.
Please note: If you are not from a TAFE organisation you will also be issued with an invoice which will need to be paid prior to goods being dispatched.
Copyright and adaptation
Can I modify Pearson Licensed Content?
That depends on the type of license you choose.
Modifiable Licence: You can modify the content by adding or deleting content but you can not edit the content.
Reproducible Licence: You can not alter the content.
Do I have to acknowledge Pearson Education in the materials I produce?
You must print the English title and the standard PEA copyright notice in the English language on the foot of the front cover of every copy or (both print and online) of the work.
If I modify licensed content that has the NQC Tick, is the adapted content still Noted?
If the Work has been modified by adding or deleting content it is no longer 'Quality Assurance Noted' and it is the Organisation’s responsibility to attain 'Noting' status from the National Quality Council.
Can I resell the content?
You can not sell any material produced using Pearson’s Licensed Content. This condition does not apply where the course materials are included in the course fee.
Pearson Licensed Content Contracts
How long does a Pearson Licensed Content contract last?
The standard contract term is for 1 year.
However you can take out an extended contract for a period of either two or three years and you will be billed in annual instalments. If a training package is updated, and PEA publishes new content, we will supply the new content at no charge. If PEA does not publish new content, and you cease to use Pearson Licensed Content, you will not be billed for any subsequent years.
Why is Pearson Licensed Content not significantly cheaper than a printed book?
When we produce a text, printing only constitutes a small percentage of the costs.
In fact, most costs are associated with writing the original content, conducting peer reviews and then editing the manuscript so that it has the high quality you expect from Pearson Education.
How secure does an online environment need to be?
Any Pearson Licensed Content placed online must be in a password secure website, intranet, network or other online environment.
Can I put Pearson Licensed Content onto a server belonging to my training client?
If you are delivering training to a third party (such as client organisation) you can load Pearson’s content onto their server. The content must be placed in a password secure website, intranet, network or other online environment.
On completion of your services to the client organisation, or the end of your contract for Pearson Licensed Content, all of Pearson’s material must be removed from the client’s server. It is your responsibility to ensure these materials are removed.
Does Pearson want to see how I have used the content?
Print: You will need to send us two free copies of the final printed resource upon publication.
Online: If Pearson’s content is placed online you will need to grant us access to the website to view how the material is used.
Can I see a sample contract?
You can download sample contracts contained in the Pearson Licensed Content Information Pack.
What happens if I need more students to access the content than the number specified in my original contract?
If you need more students to access the content than the contract specifies you can "top up" your contract to reflect your needs. The "top up" price is calculated assuming you purchased all of the content at the beginning of the original contract which means you get the benefit of volume pricing.
What happens if the Training Package is updated when I have a contract?
If a new Training Package is released and Pearson Education releases a new edition, we will supply the revised original material to you at no extra charge. Any costs associated with printing the original editions of the materials provided, or alterations to elearning or intranet systems under the Pearson Licensed Content Agreement are the responsibility of the customer.
What happens at the end of the contract?
Once the contract expires all electronic files provided shall be removed from your website and CDs issued to you containing the materials are to be returned to PEA.
If your organisation has provided the materials to a third party (such as client organisation) all materials are to be removed from the client’s intranet server on completion of the services provided by you. It is your responsibility to ensure that materials are removed.
Can I use Pearson’s content in both online and printed mediums?
You can only use Pearson’s content in accordance with your contract.
- Online Licence: You are able to printout the content for class use. However the total number of students accessing the content must not exceed the number specified in your contract.
- Print Licence: You can not put this content online.
